The ArtsAt Corvian Community School, we feel strongly about incorporating both visual and performing arts into everyday activities. We weave the arts throughout our entire curriculum, giving the students the opportunity to explore and respond to content through aesthetic experiences. We focus on art history, art appreciation, and art making. In addition, students in every grade level create and participate in various classroom performances, incorporating dialogue, song and movement. These extensive age appropriate experiences with dramatic presentations help build a strong respect for the arts and enrich our students' lives.
Foreign Language
Corvian Community School understands the importance and benefits of foreign language instruction at early ages. Therefore, we have incorporated Spanish instruction into our curriculum, beginning in kindergarten. Each class, kindergarten through fifth grade, receives one formal session of Spanish instruction per week.
Technology
Corvian Community School is aware that this is the age of technology, and our school is making great strides in cultivating 21st Century literacy in our students. As students grow and develop, they will learn to use this technology to enhance and strengthen their understanding of daily concepts. They will engage in interactive programs that allow both teachers and students to simultaneously work together on projects and activities. Students will learn to responsibly navigate websites that are relevant to current topics being taught in class. They will also be encouraged to use technology to demonstrate understanding of concepts through both individual and class presentations. At the core of this instruction, however, remains the classroom teacher, whom we feel is the most integral part of facilitating a child’s daily classroom learning.
