On September 9th, the Corvian Cardinal football team is looking to get their first victory of the season against Lake Norman Charter.

Junior lineman Tyler Schoeck said, “I expect a win going into this week as we should dominate on the offensive and defensive line as a unit”, and is looking to get some sacks this game.

They may be viewed as underdogs in this game, but the players are using that doubt as fuel to their fire. Fans can expect Cameron Johnson to have another big game. Johnson said, “I feel we have to bounce back after starting the season 0-2. We are looking to gain momentum with a big win.” If they win this week it will be a huge morale booster, and they will be favored to win more games to come.

Senior wide receiver Preston Brawley said, “I expect us to win and our losses should motivate us to capture a win as we continue to improve every week.”

The Cardinals are coming off a bye week, so they should be well rested and energized heading into week 4. This rest is needed, as the roster is much smaller in comparison to their opponents.

Junior quarterback Jaelan Pile said, “Despite the two losses I expect a good win this week as we should come out firing on all cylinders. This week we have worked hard and made sure we are prepared to come out with a victory.”

Coach Chris Amill, had many words to say about how he feels towards the current situation of the team as they continue to improve throughout their first year as a program. Although it’s the first year of the program, Coach Chris, along with his staff, expect a lot from this team as they feel they have great potential.

Coach Chris said, “taking on the task of coaching this great group of kids is really fun with long hours and long days. It can be tiring, but I am enjoying it all for sure.”

He has one goal going into this week's game, and he made that very clear with his statement about his expectations this week. “To win. It's as simple as that. Really no other expectation to have. Going into week one you have certain expectations seeing how your team will perform, but now I'm going into games with 100 percent expectation to win.”
