Excitement in October

Written by Kaia Garver

October is an exciting month for Corvian and the city of Charlotte! At Corvian, everything from Spirit Week to homecoming is scheduled, and in Charlotte, be sure to check out Oktoberfest, Dear Evan Hansen at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, and the Charlotte Dragon Boat Festival!

At Corvian, the first week of October (the 3rd to the 7th) is Pink Out week for breast cancer awareness. The volleyball team has a Pink Out game on 10/6, followed by a 10/7 Pink Out football game and a 10/11 Pink Out home soccer game. We hope to see you in pink!

Spirit Week is from Tuesday, October 18th to Friday the 21st. Tuesday is Adam Sandler Day, Wednesday is College Day, Thursday is Anything But A Backpack Day, and Friday is Color Wars. On Friday the 21st we have a pep rally, followed by a home Black Out themed football game!

Our first homecoming dance is on the 22nd, and the theme is Enchanted Garden! Attire is semi-formal. The dance will be held in the gym from 6:30 to 9:30 and is open to all grades.

Friday, October 28th is senior sports night for fall sports, so come out and support our seniors! A Halloween-themed football game will be held that night as well, called Monster Mash. No costume masks will be allowed.

Many events are being held in Charlotte throughout October, including the Renaissance Festival and the National Whitewater Center’s Build Your Own Boat Competition! The Renaissance Festival is a 16th-century fair and is held from October 1st to November 20th. At the fair, there are arts, crafts, jousting, and shopping for 16th-century-themed items, such as flower crowns, pottery, and jewelry! You can watch the National Whitewater Center’s Build Your Own Boat Competition on October 15th.

Have a great October, Cardinals!
