Corvian Community School Enrollment FAQs

How does the Lottery work?

Lotterease will randomly sort all applicant names in each grade level to determine admission (if seats are available) and a waiting list (if no seats are available). Example: If there are 20 applicants for a specific grade and there are only 10 available slots, Lotterease will randomly sort all student names and the first 10 will be offered a seat. The remaining 10 students will make up the waiting list, in the order in which they were randomly selected.

Please visit our website to see the scheduled date of our lottery each school year.

How many openings are there in each grade?

The Corvian Community School Board of Directors will determine the number of openings at each grade level prior to the lottery. Availability is determined based on criteria such as the number of returning students.

Preference/priority seating is granted to students who meet priority status eligibility and register as such. Remaining openings will be filled by students registered as general admission applicants via the Lotterease lottery drawing.

What happens if there are no openings at CCS after priority students have been granted enrollment?

Remaining openings will be filled by students registered as general admission applicants via the Lotterease lottery drawing. Once all seats are filled, the lottery draw will continue to determine the order of the waitlist for each grade.

PLEASE NOTE: The summer months are more active with waiting lists.  Do not be discouraged if there are no openings at the time of the lottery. You can monitor your student’s progression on the waitlist via the Lotterease website 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How will I be notified where my student ends up in the Lottery process?

Lotterease sends automated emails after the lottery is run with results that include offers for enrollment or waitlist position numbers. You can check your student’s status 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by logging into your Lotterease parent account.

How can I check the status of my student on the waitlist?

Login to your Lotterease Parent account or go directly to www.lotterease.com. Once logged in, click on your student’s name on the left-hand side of the screen, then select, “View Lottery Applications”, and Submit. The next window will give you a snapshot of your current applications for that student.

In addition to manually checking your student’s status, the Lotterease system sends automated emails to notify you when your student has moved into the top 5, as well as each time he or she moves into a ten position (i.e., 50, 40, 30, 20, and 10) on any waiting list.

We strongly recommend that you enter [email protected] into your Contacts to prevent the email from being recognized as spam. We also recommend that you check your junk/spam folders on a regular basis for future notifications from Lotterease, especially if your student was placed on the waitlist.

How am I notified if there is an opening?

Once a parent declines a seat, Lotterease will automatically generate an email to notify the next student on the waitlist. Parents have a set window outlined in the email in which to confirm or decline attendance.

My email address has changed and I need to revise it so that I receive email notices from you. What do I do?

You can update your email address and phone number by logging into your Lotterease account and making the change(s) yourself.

What is the time frame to confirm or decline a spot when it is offered to me?

Families will have 7 calendar days to secure enrollment by completing a two-step process.

  1. Confirm or decline the student’s spot once it is offered.

  2. If you confirm, you will be sent an Enrollment Packet which must also be completed within the 7-day time frame.

Because the waitlists can move 24/7, this time frame includes weekends and holidays.

My student was selected. What is the next step?

Securing enrollment is a two-step process that requires completion within the 7-day time frame. These 7 days include weekends and holidays.

If a seat is granted to your child and you would like to accept the offer, you will have 7 calendar days in which to “confirm” (accept) or “decline”, and complete the Enrollment Packet. Once you “confirm” seating, you will receive a welcome email from the school containing the Enrollment Packet. Your enrollment is not secure or complete until you have completed all required enrollment materials and submitted all required documentation.

If you decline your student’s seat, or do nothing by the deadline, your student’s name will be automatically removed from the waiting list. The next student on the waiting list will immediately be contacted.

What if I decline and then change my mind?

Once you decline enrollment or have been removed from the waiting list, the next student on the waiting list is immediately contacted. You can request to be added back to the waiting list, but your student’s name will be added to the end of the list.

What if I want to confirm/secure enrollment but don’t do it within the time frame defined in the acceptance email?

Once the defined timeframe has passed, the slot is automatically offered to the next student on the waitlist. There are no exceptions to the deadline.

I registered for the CCS Lottery via Lotterease, but I’ve changed my mind and do not want my student to be entered in the lottery. What should I do?

Please remove your student’s information by using your Lotterease account before the lottery is run.

I submitted applications for multiple children in the lottery. What happens if one of my children gets in and another does not?

If one child from your family accepts enrollment into the program, any other child you submitted an application for under the Surname option will automatically move to the top of the preference list for CCS.

What is the Lotterease Seal of Transparency and Fairness?

When you see the Seal on a school website, you can be confident that your application will be included in the school lottery in a fair and transparent way. That is because Lotterease is an independent automated lottery system that the school uses to manage its lottery and waitlist. Since Lotterease is an independent system, the school staff do not have the ability to manipulate or adjust the lottery outcome. They must work within the requirements of the system. In addition, all activity that takes place with your application is tracked in a history log that you can view at any time by logging into the parent portal. If the school you want your child to attend displays the Lotterease Seal of Transparency and Fairness, you can rest assured that your child will get their fair chance to attend the school.
