At Corvian, our students are taught the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and the Common Core Standards through the use of integrated thematic units. By connecting these standards through units rich in real-world experiences, incorporation of the arts, practical daily application, and creative expression, students internalize what they learn and continue to make connections in their everyday lives. Each grade has an overlying theme of focus, and within that theme students experience a multitude of units of study. These themes are selected based on the educational principles outlined in Dr. Ernest L. Boyer’s book “The Basic School”.
